He was born in 1947 in Sainte Marie Sur Mer in France
Georges Artaud particularly excelled in painting and drawing in Marcel Fraboulet’s drawing classes. This reknown French painter helped him prepare his admittance at the “Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts” in Bourges
1963 First exhibition at seventeen at the “Galerie Meriot” in Rochefort Sur Mer (France) where he exposed oil on canvas, pastels and
drawings of his beloved seascapes of the French Atlantic coasts.
1964 At the end of his first year of studies he received a bursary for his
academic year at the
“Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts”.
After his 3 years of brilliant studying, he graduated with the CAFAS diploma.
1967-1968 To comfort his parents, worrying about his future life, Georges Artaud
temporarily takes a sabbatical from painting and sculpture in order to
specialize in illustration and publicity, a sector experiencing a boom at the
time.
He stopped studying and left the “Charente-Maritime” (France) to get a job in Paris.
Spending one year in an advertising agency, he quickly became self employed and
worked full time in the field of illustration and creation.
During the ten following years he performed as an advertising designer and
quickly became recognized. He was soon after included in large advertising
campaigns.
His success allowed him to create his own company “Studio Artaud”. For 20 years he was an advertising designer assisted with graphic artists.
Georges Artaud stopped his job in Paris to settle in Le Mans (France) to devote
himself entirely to his painting.
He had expositions in Paris and throughout France, he was awarded with a number
of prizes.
Permanent exposition in the “RED DOOR” gallery in North Little Rock (Arkansas).
