The 21st “Salon des Peintres Sarthois” is opening on
Saturday with Georges
Artaud as a guest of honor, the winner of the first prize in a people’s choice award in 2004.

Once more this Salon welcomes a great number of artists (nearly 80) who will exhibit 200
paintings and sculptures. Georges Artaud after
Philipp Emonnet is invited as the guest of honor.

After 3 weeks and 3000 visitors the successful 28th “Salon des Arts Plastiques” in Le Mans closed up yesterday.

It is Georges Artaud who received the first prize in a people’s choice award for his pastel: “The White Rose”. The artist living in Le Mans has also earned the “PLANTAGENET” prize.

He had already earned the

“PLANTAGENET” prize which awarded the best composition of the Old City of Le Mans. Georges Artaud has also been rewarded with a people ’s choice award for “The White Rose”.

This exhibition was a success for this painter who settled in Le Mans 5 years ago. He had already got the prize in a people ’s choice award two years ago. Georges Artaud has been entirely devoted to his painting since 2000. Before, he was an editor in advertising, explains the artist who studied at “Les Beaux Arts” in Bourges (France). He worked for all the important labels. Nearly every time he exhibits his work he earns an award. “I received an international award too from an American magazine” he explained.

Next week Georges Artaud will once more exhibit his outstanding work at the “Glycines” centre. It is all along his fifty-three years of painting that he nearly achieved perfection in his composition.

At every exhibition Georges Artaud earns an award.

Remembering: - the first prize “Lefranc-Bourgeois” at the “Salon des Arts Plastiques du Mans”- first prize too from the magazine “Pratique des Arts” at the “Salon d’Automne Fléchois” - first prize in a people’s choice award and from the city at the “Salon d’Automne de la Suze” in 2001 - first prize for his perfect use of the various mediums at the “Salon Parignéen des Peintres Sarthois” in 2002 - the first prize in a people’s choice award in Le Mans in 2002 and so many others.

Neither his second prize at the contest organized by the American Magazine “International Artist Magazine” in 2003 nor his selection at the exclusive “Salon d’Automne” in Paris in 2004 have changed this unpretentious painter.

Georges Artaud was born to paint and draw at twelve he was the student of the French painter Marcel Fraboulet and at seventeen he held his first exhibition: Oil painting, pastels and seascape drawings depicting the seasides of his beloved Charente-Maritime where he used to live.

Brilliant student of “Les Beaux Arts” he will start working as an editor in advertising and could let his creativity guide his actions.

He settled in Le Mans in 1999. Since, he has been able to devote his whole life to his painting: ‘I have a propensity toward watercolor and pastel’ says the painter whose artwork is so life-like that one could be confused with a photo.

This artist is one of the hundred painters who have been selected by the American book entitled “How did you paint that? A hundred ways to paint landscapes” to explain his extraordinary technique.
